Marriott
Courtyard opens in Patong Beach.
The former Grand Tropicana
has been
rebuilt and rebranded as the Marriott Courtyard.
In
addition, the Kamala Bay Garden Resort and Surin
Beach Resort are also rebuilt and rebranded as Marriott Courtyard at Kamala Beach and
Marriott Courtyard at Surin Beach.
The Marriott Courtyard in
Patong Beach has opened with 399 rooms. It is located
just down the street from the Jung Ceylon Shopping Center which features
a Carrefour and Central and Robinson Department stores in addition to
200 shops and a multiplex movie theatre.

The introduction of the
Marriott Courtyard brand onto the island means that Phuket is taking
another step upward in improving the quality of lodging and services
that it provides its visitors.
The basic
structures of the original resorts has been retained, but just about everything else from
plumbing to air-conditioning has been replaced.
The Marriott Courtyard in
Kamala Beach opens with 180 suites. The resort is
located on the north end of the community as the highway begins a climb
through the hillside toward Surin Beach.
The Marriott Courtyard Surin
Beach has 256 studios and suites. Situated next to
the TwinPalms Resort and just down the road the ultra-upscale villa
resort the Amanpuri - the move in Surin Beach follows a trend towards
five star resorts in the area.
